Branch Secretary
Pete Hinchliffe
Pete is the guy in the hot seat. He is a Registered Nurse, failed slimmer and works at North Manchester General Hospital. As well as being Branch Secretary, Pete is also Trade Union Convenor for the whole Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust. Pete is a real ale and steam loco buff and owns a small part share in a Standard 4 Class locomotive. He also enjoys classic rock, bluegrass, Mozart and Handel, creative writing and poetry. (How's that for a schizophrenic combination) Pete's ambitions are for Pennine PAH to be a great branch & to have a Staff Social Club at NMGH where they sell Coniston Bluebird and Timothy Taylor's Best Bitter.

Chair
Brian Porter
Brian works in the Supplies Department at Fairfield General Hospital. He lives in Bury and is an avid collector of old rock and roll records. Besides being Branch Chair, Brian is also Associate Branch Secretary at Bury. Brian is very keen to give the new branch support and works very closely with the Branch Secretary. He has a keen interest in Improving Working Lives and believes that there are opportunities to improve the situation of many NHS workers. His priority at Bury is to recruit more Stewards and Health & Safety Reps.

Equality Officer
Bode Davies
Bode works within the Medical Records Department and is experienced as a Steward, a former Branch Chair & Welfare Officer. He knows that he has a big job ensuring that the Trust delivers the NHS promise on equality. "There are still a disproportionate number of part time women in the lower grades and we need to make sure that the Trust does not discriminate against them and gives them the opportunity to develop."

Treasurer
Stephen Moran
Morrissey look-alike and fan Stephen, like Bode, works in Medical Records at NMGH. He believes in total financial accountability and transparency. He was a keen advocate of an expenses-only system of remuneration for Stewards.

Health & Safety Officer
Pauline Jones
Pauline works in the Planning Department of Trust HQ in Westhulme, Oldham and gamely flies the Health & Safety flag for the new branch. Pauline would like to see every branch activist be doubly qualified as a Health & Safety Rep as she believes it gives them far more muscle in the workplace. At the moment, Pauline is committed to ensure that the Trust has good Health & Safety policies to protect staff.

Education Co-ordinator
Mike Holt
Mike Holt is an MLSO working in Biochemistry in the Pathology Department at North Manchester. He has a big job in the new Branch arranging training for new and existing activists as well as recruiting Life Long Learning Reps. "An untrained Rep is no asset to anyone and can give members the wrong advice. This can sometimes put them in a dangerous position," Says Mike. If he strikes up a conversation with you, keep him off the subject of life-long learning unless you've plenty of time as he's very passionate about the subject.

Welfare Officer
Peter Dalzell
Horny-handed 'son of the soil' or just plain member of the Gardening Department, Peter tries to ensure that Members claims for welfare payments are dealt with speedily and sympathetically. Known behind his back as 'Sam Gamgee'.

Membership Secretary
Julie Taylor
Julie Taylor is a Health Care Support Worker in the Out-Patients Dept at NMGH and has one of the toughest jobs going, trying to merge four out-of-date Branch records into one. She is waiting for the long-promised electronic, centralised membership record system that UNISON keeps promising to deliver. Members can update their details on this website by printing out a form & sending it in to the Branch Office.

Social Secretary
Jean Verity-Doyle
Jean Verity-Doyle, despite her double-barrelled name is a Doctor's Aide and very proud of her Salford roots. Currently she is studying 'Law At Work' in order to give the management a run for their money but I don't think Michael Mansfied has anything to worry about. She wants to try to organise social events throughout the year in order to encourage member participation.

Harry Johnson
Harry Johnson used to be a Nursing Officer at Springfield Hospital and in 1997 celebrated 50 years as a Trade Union Member. (No wonders he's hardly any hair left!) Harry is anxious to make contact with any UNISON members who are about to retire or who have retired recently.
